Cooking With Cannabis: Marijuana Extractions

Cooking with cannabis sounds so exciting that you have probably thought of trying it. However, the process is not as simple as spicing your finished dish with some grounded buds. It is more complicated. So, how can you add marijuana to your recipe?

When you decide to cook with cannabis, you should know that marijuana is oil-based and that the best way to extract its components is through oils. Marijuana buds contain the most THC and to get them into your dish, you need to use products with fats. They do a great job releasing cannabinoids. People most often prefer to use cannabutter or marijuana oil.

But how exactly are they made? Can you do it yourself at home? Or do you need to look for them in shops? We will try to give you the answers to all your questions.

Yes, you can actually prepare all those oily cannabis substances yourself—there is nothing difficult about it. There are many cannabis products that you can prepare at home and use them for your recipes. However, in this article, we will concentrate on the most widespread products: cannabutter and cannabis oil.

Cannabutter

Such popular term as cannabutter has entered the life of all marijuana enthusiasts some years ago. Now, it is an edible marijuana product that is used and loved by many people. Do not hesitate—cook it yourself. We promise, it is easy.

You can simply replace your regular butter with this cannabis infused product in any recipe you want. To add the euphoric effect to the product, you simply need time and patience. You need to put some butter and a little bit of water in a saucepan and bring it to a rapid simmer. The most important rule to remember in the process is to never let the substance boil. Never. Then you can whisk in that strain of marijuana that you want. Choose only the best indica and sativa strains as the quality of the strain you use will influence the quality of your butter.

The next step will take quite a lot of time but it is worth the effort. You need to keep the substance simmering for about 5 hours. Stir it every hour or so. Yes, the process is boring but the effects of cannabutter are always happy and euphoric. When the butter is done, pour it through the cheesecloth to get a smooth substance that will bring you joy every time you use it in a recipe.

Cannabis oil

Preparing cannabis oil is faster then simmering cannabutter, but you also need to really focus to do everything right. Follow our recommendations and you will get an excellent potent oil that can help you get rid of any problems that you have. Besides, there are countless recipes that use this ingredient in one way or the other. To prepare this cannabis product, you just need two ingredients—6 cups of olive oil and one ounce of cannabis buds of any sativa or indica strain.

Take a saucepan, pour the oil in it and set on low heat. When you feel the rich aroma of the oil, add the second and the last ingredient to it—cannabis. Be sure to whisk it little by little until all of it is covered by the oil. Simmer the substance for about 45 minutes stirring it from time to time. When the oil cools off, strain the cannabis with a spoon to get the most cannabinoids from it.

The best thing about cannabis oil (besides its being full of joyful THC) is that it can be stored in a fridge for almost two months.

Choose your own cannabis product and start cooking like a cannabis chef.
