Recipe: Homemade Mahjoun Panna Cotta

6 3/4-cup souffle cups/glass custard cups

Medium mixing bowl

Heavy saucepan

Whisker

Plastic wrap

Ingredients

Vegetable oil

1 cup whole milk

2 and ¼ teaspoons unflavored gelatin

2 cups heavy cream

½ cup sugar

4 ounces chocolate bar (any kind you like)

1-2 Mahjoun balls (no more than 2 ounces)

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Cocoa powder (to garnish)

Fruit (to garnish)

Instructions

  1. Use some vegetable oil to lightly grease souffle cups or glass custard cups. Put them aside for a while.
  2. Pour whole milk into a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Add unflavored gelatin and let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes until the gelatin softens.
  4. Put heavy cream and sugar into a heavy saucepan.
  5. Place the saucepan on the stove and turn on medium-high heat.
  6. Stir the mixture until the sugar dissolves.
  7. Then, bring the mixture to a boil and remove the saucepan from heat.
  8. Break chocolate bar into small pieces and add them to the hot cream and sugar mixture.
  9. Whisk the mixture until the chocolate melts completely.
  10. Break the Mahjoun balls into small pieces and add them to the cream and sugar mixture as well.
  11. Thoroughly whisk the mixture.
  12. Carefully whisk the cream and sugar mix into the gelatin and milk mass.
  13. Stir the mixture to combine the ingredients.
  14. Add vanilla extract.
  15. Divide the mixture among the prepared cups.
  16. Use a plastic wrap to cover the cups.
  17. Place the covered cups into the refrigerator for about 24 hours.
  18. Use some cocoa powder and fruit to garnish the dessert before serving.
